Biosignal-based Detection of Drivers’ States

The detection of driver’s states can play an important role in enhancing road traffic safety. The drivers’ states can be recognized using biosignal-based measuring systems as EDA (Electrodermal Activity), ECG (Electrokardiophraphy), and video-based FTI (Facial Thermal Imaging). One of the most relevant parameters is the driver’s fatigue. In the scope of such measurings subjects can be exposed

to high or low mental workloads that can additionally be modified by the operation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. The development of multivariable measuring systems can reveal which measuring systems, or a combnation of them, are suitable best for detecting mental workload and therefore drivers’s states. Another method regarding drivers’ state recognition is speech-based fatique detection.
